How do i remove the hazy film from the headlights on my ford taurus without replacing them.?

i wanna get rid of the milky film that has overtaken my headlights over the last 10yrs. how do i do this at a reasonable price?>not wanting to replace them or spend 50.00 on a headlight polishing kit.
