What does it mean when a person asks u continuing questions?

I waws at this public thing for my church last nite and i was face painting. Well this grandma walked up with her granddaughter and while i was painting the kids face the grandmother was like wow ur really talented so i said thx and she asked me how old i was so i told her then she asked wht grade was i in so i told her but it got me nervous when she asked wht school i go to. I didnt tell her my real school and by then i had finished painting the kids face so they said thank u and they left. I guess one of my questions is, is: Should i have been cautious about it? My parents told me to never give out personal info to strangers and to beaware. I was just curious.
